Price tables design for websites

For some companies, listing their prices on their website is a must. This is often the case if you sell membership plans or recurring services with various level options. Presenting the plans and their price needs to be done well in order to be effective. Let’s start with answering  these questions:

  1. What is the plan you want to sell the most?
  2. If you offer numerous plans, do you really want to list all of them on the same page or can you streamline them to 2 to 4 plans?
  3. Do you want your visitor to be able to customize their plan online?
  4. What are the greatest benefits and details of each plan?

The most efficient way to display plans are via a price table design where each plan is clearly defined visually making it easy and quick for a visitor to glance at all of them and make a selection.

How to do it well

Content

  • Make the plan title count by either making them interesting or memorable or defining what they are or for whom they are
  • Be succint, right to the point (what do your customers want and answer that question)
  • Focus on the benefits of each plan listing them in order of importance
  • Keep the text simple, clear and again short
  • List the price and clarifies if it is per month, yearly, one time fee, etc.
  • Have a bold call to action (with a “find out more” link or directly to a purchase page)

Design

  • Use distinctive colors to clearly define each plan
  • Bring attention to the most important plan you wanted to push with added design elements such as ribbon “Best Deal”, different color scheme, shadowing and/or creating a 3D effect.
  • If using a graphic or an image, make sure it clearly supports the plan or its top benefit
  • Most importantly make the tables match your brand and website design so it all looks harmonized

What not to do

One thing to not do is to give all of the plan details on that page. If the plan is complex, you may want to consider a Read More button which would link to a dedicated page for this plan.

Do not put too much information or verbs, really … keep it as short as possible aiming to have the details fit on one line each.

A strong design for your pricing tables can make a difference in the decision of your prospective buyer. Remember to  keep them stylish and interesting while keep the text succint and clear.
