Compliance… Compliance… Compliance… There are so many new laws now governing websites that it can be difficult for a site owner to keep up with the regulations and staying compliant. Saying this, it is very important that your website be compliant at all levels to prevent lawsuits. At Business Website Center, we use Cookiebot and can run a complimentary compliance test if you are unsure if your site is compliant or not with “cookies” policies. All we need is your domain name to run the test. Upon completion, we will send the results to you for free. The test comes in six languages: English, Danish, German, Italian, French and Spanish. So, if you prefer the test results to be in another language, simply let us know.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to all websites with users from the EU (European Union). That would apply to you if you have visitors from outside the USA. In the USA, certain states also require a cookie policy and tool in place on your site. If you are not sure if this is the case in your state of operation, let us know.

What does the Cookiebot compliance test do?

The test analyzes a website to give an indication of whether or not the website is compliant with the rules relating to online tracking set out in the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and in the EU ePrivacy Directive 2009/136/EC (ePR).

You will receive an email report indicating whether the website is non-compliant, partially compliant or compliant. In the email will be listed some of the parameters that have been tested as well as a list of other requirements that you as a website owner should keep in mind. Attached to the email is a scan report listing the cookies and online trackers identified during the test.

The compliance test is based on some basic requirements in the GDPR and ePR and analyzes up to 5 subpages of a website – it is therefore not a complete analysis. A positive test response must not be taken as a guarantee that the website fulfills all requirements set out in the GDPR and ePR.

The compliance test is a free service we offer. We will need your email address so we can send you the test result with the compliance report. Again, there are no requirements to purchase or sign up for anything and no hidden charges. The initial partial test is free of charge.

Why does the test not take into consideration that I have manually classified the ‘unclassified cookies’ your scanner found? 

The initial free compliance test we provide you does not consider your actual configuration in Cookiebot. This is because we do not provide your settings to the public and therefore the compliance test scanner will not be informed that you have made these manual classifications. If you have made the necessary changes in your Cookiebot configuration, those will apply to your website, no matter what the public test states. If you choose to sign up for a Cookiebot account, the next scan and reports will be complete and include all pages of your site.
